Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to do a road trip across Canada, but Tjerk, a.k.a. TJ, had the chance when he swapped his Vancouver home for life in Toronto as a Trader at EdgePoint. It wasn’t a lonely trip since he was accompanied by his wife and their two energetic Australian shepherds. Tjerk wasn’t always a city boy. He lived in the Netherlands until he was 10 before moving into the interior of B.C. to help run a fishing camp. Tjerk spent his time there guiding clients, fishing and exploring the mountains. He eventually exchanged those scenic views for his first finance job at a brokerage firm’s mailroom. Although it sounds cliché, he worked his way up in the industry and can now be found zipping around the office on a scooter on the rare occasions he’s not at the trading desk.

Prior to joining EdgePoint, Tjerk worked as both chief operating officer and chief compliance officer at Dixon Mitchell Investment Counsel and senior equity trader at Connor, Clark & Lunn Investment Management. He earned his B.Comm in Finance from the University of Victoria and is working towards his MSc in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Tjerk is a CFA charterholder.
